About Me

I am a Northern  Irish fly Fishing Guide.Seems like I have been fishing my entire life, certainly since I acquired my first rod aged four when I lived in Lisburn, Co. Antrim.  While living in Lisburn I spent my time on the Upper Bann,Lagan and it's main tributary the Ravernet while the Sixmilewater and Maine would get a visit at the weekend.  I moved to County Armagh around 1999 and explored the nearby Cusher, Callan and Clanrye Rivers. In over fifty years fishing I have fished virtually every river I can think of in Northern Ireland and quite a few in the South for salmon, trout, seatrout and dollaghan, the knowledge gained across all these rivers laid the foundations for me becoming an Irish fly Fishing Guide .  I am a certified RYA first aider and also a 1st4 Sport Angling Coach.

The last 20 years  of my fishing life has seen me focus on the competition element of our sport where I have learnt many new and exciting methods and made many new friends.  In 2003 I entered my first international qualifier and gained my first cap in 2004 for the Irish Rivers Team.  Since then I have been on the Irish Rivers Team 13 times ( and this year 2024 again),  I have  also represented Ireland and Northern Ireland at Lough Style, Commonwealth, European and World Championship Level.  Competing at this level has helped me hone various techniques that I can pass onto those who avail of guided fly fishing in Ireland.

I have been ITFFA Ulster Rivers Champion an unprecedented four times ( 3 years in succession) and the  Irish National Rivers Champion 3 times . I also was TAFI Ulster Rivers Champion in 2017 and 2022. I also won the Lough Melvin Open in 2010 and The TAFI All Ireland Masters River Championship in 2022.
